the story
Camino Caffeino is a vintage coffee truck, inspired by a legacy, built for a community. We fuel the lowcountry coast with specialty coffee while supporting local nonprofits to keep our beaches wild and clean.
It started as a retirement dream, inspired by my grandfather (pictured below) who enjoyed farming during his own retirement and selling his produce to his friends with the help of his '86 El Camino.
As a kid I spent my summers on his farm and watched as he stayed in touch with old friends and regularly made new one ones simply by selling vegetables.
Growing up I realized why he did this. Not to become rich from selling produce, but to become rich from building community, and I wanted to bring a similar concept to my town by serving good, locally roasted coffee to old friends and new.
Thanks to the support from my friends and family (and a lot of Facebook marketplace browsing), I found an El Camino just like his, and started my dream a few years before retirement.
Camino Caffeino regularly hosts pop ups around town and is available for hire at private or public events.
I hope to get the chance to bring a taste of nostalgia to you and your community soon!
This is my grandpa, John Huffman, in his classic summer uniform selling tomatoes bigger than melons.
This is me, Robert Huffman, back in 1995, at my grandparents farm in Kentucky, where this dream originated.
Sustainability
Serving coffee on the coast was our ultimate dream and we’ve seen first hand how fragile our beaches, marshes and waterways can be if not taken care of.
As a certified Ocean Friendly Restaurant through the Surfrider Foundation, we're committed to zero single-use plastics, keeping our coast wild with native plants and animals, and clean of trash and litter.
We're proud to give back a portion of our proceeds to two organizations doing the real work: The M.A.R.S.H. Project and Surfrider Charleston, whose efforts to protect and restore our local coastline inspired us to hold ourselves to a higher standard from day one.
So when you grab a cup from Camino Caffeino, you're not just fueling your day, you're supporting the coast that makes Charleston the beautiful place it is.
